closing ceremony of 16 days of GBV

The closing ceremony of the 16th anti-violence activities organized by HYAC in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the YWU in Aden was held 05/12/2018 under the theme of empowering women to the safety and security of the family.

At the opening ceremony, a number of speeches were delivered by the Director of the Social Affairs Office in Aden Ayoub Abu Bakr, the Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of HYAC Abdullah Al-Suhaibi and the Chairperson of the Yemen Women’s Union in Aden Fatima Mersi indicated that this ceremony comes within the framework of concluding the 16-day program to combat violence against, The conference was organized by a number of programs and awareness programs on women’s suffering from injustice and marginalization and the importance of reducing this phenomenon, pointing out that HYAC has implemented many programs, workshops and meetings, a group discussion on combating violence against women and targeting 150 of the victims from the governorates of Lahj,Shabwa and Al-Dhalea, training and sensitizing them to fight against violence.

HYAC also implemented several developmental projects in the governorates of Shabwa, Dhala and the West Coast region of Lahj governorate to empower women economically and improve their standard of living by providing loans to help establish small income projects. This event was organized by HYAC partnership with Athmari organization for the Protection of Women Of violence in all its forms and the importance of their suffering as a result of the war and to raise their awareness of how to participate effectively in decision-making positions.

The ceremony included a presentation about HYAC, its activities and projects, as well as songs and dances for children of Al Manara Kindergarten, a play about anti-violence and a presentation on how to provide loans to beneficiaries.
